Why do you charge me before we drive off? What is a Flag fall?
The origin is a taxi expression for the minimum charge for hiring a taxi, to which the rate per
kilometre or a rate per minute if stationary is added. When the passenger steps inside the taxi, the
Flag fall condition is triggered and the taxi driver then starts the meter. Even if the passenger has
not yet instructed the driver where to take them, the driver is entitled to the Flag fall and the rate
per minute component (even if the taxi is not moving).

Delays in arriving to pick you up may occur if multiple customers call at the same time, there is
very busy traffic through town, there are road works, adverse weather conditions, large sporting
events, or a vehicle is out of town.

Pre-booking a mobility taxi will not guarantee it will be on time, especially if more than one TMV
request occurs at the same or similar time. Please ask the operator to check availability, as it can
take 20 to 30 minutes between pickups.
If you require a van but it is not available at that time, we are happy to accept the booking if you
are prepared to accept and pay for normal cars to accommodate the number of passengers.
